Xavi labels Bayern Munich’s defeat a ‘disgrace’ after Barcelona’s 2-0 defeat to Bayern Munich last month. Barcelona, who had won each of their preceding five games, traveled to Munich for their second Champions League match of the campaign in fantastic form while the German team was having trouble in the Bundesliga.

Considering this, the home team won the game 2-0 despite the fact that the outsiders had much more chances than their competitors.

Xavi called the outcome a sham, believing his team should have performed best and should have if they had increased their offensive efforts. He was speaking ahead of the unification bout between the teams at Camp Nou on a night that could see Barcelona eliminated from this year’s contests if Inter defeated Victoria Plzen earlier that night.

We must demonstrate to ourselves that, even if we lose, we are still capable of competing with these teams, and that the outcome in Munich was a travesty because we accomplished more.

“Although we didn’t attack, it was unintentional. To demonstrate our ability to compete, we must acquire the ball from them; establish ourselves as the game’s heroes, and triumph. One of the top teams in the globe is Bayern.

“We want to win, no matter what transpired in Milan, but we are here due to our own faults,” said the team.

For a club the size of Barcelona, bringing it down into the Europa League would be disastrous, particularly given the amount they bought in the summer, but the manager thinks his team will be encouraged and take the lesson to heart if it does.

We’ll struggle like lions if we have to participate in the Europa League, he continued.

Thierry Henry claims Barcelona would ‘erupt like a volcano’ without Xavi

In response to criticism that Xavi is not the proper coach for Barcelona or that the position has arisen too quickly in his managing career, Thierry Henry has asserted that the situation would be far worse right now without the legendary Camp Nou manager in charge.

Xavi was hired by Barca a little less than a year ago after getting his start as a coach at Al-Sadd in Qatar. After a disastrous start under Ronald Koeman, he subsequently guided the squad to a second-place position in La Liga, averting the catastrophe of dropping out of the Champions League.

Up until Real Madrid defeated them in this month’s Clasico, Barcelona had been in high domestic form in 2022/23, dominating all but two of their first 11 La Liga games.

  • The Champions League, however, has been a unique situation. Though with one friendly match remaining to play, they have lost their last five games in the competition and are currently prepared to be eliminated and play in the Europa League for the second consecutive season.

Despite his time in charge, Xavi has had to work against even a background of financial instability and find methods to bring a new-look squad together after a busy summer of new signings. Despite a recent admonition from La Liga president Javier Tebas, Barça could yet be severely affected in the upcoming even though the club’s circumstances are now rising.

When the club was at its most successful under Pep Guardiola, Henry and Xavi played together for the regular season. Henry has urged his former player to resume leading the charge.

The Frenchman commented as an analyst on CBS Sports Golazo, “At the end of the day, statistics definitely count and that’s exactly what we previously have seen in England with the departure of Steven Gerrard.”

But if Barcelona had a different coach in charge at this time, the volcano would erupt. Even worse than it is now.
